An online periodical promoting freedom and liberty
|
Libertas Flamma is an online periodical that is dedicated to promoting freedom, liberty, and a
return to the Constitution. It is our belief that the United States of America will only be the world's
beacon for freedom and liberty if we return to the Constitution that the Framers penned September
17, 1787, and the Amendments that followed. The following is a brief explanation of what we believe:
First, Libertas Flamma is resolved that human rights come from God, not government. The
Declaration of Independence best affirms this statement in it's second paragraph. Therefore,
because people are created with certain, basic rights, humankind will always gravitate toward
freedom when given the chance. As a result, government must be limited, thereby granting
individuals the ability to govern themselves.
Economically speaking, Libertas Flamma seeks to promote a laissez-faire economy. We do not
believe that the government has the right to intervene in the economic affairs of its citizens. People
should have the right to participate or not to participate in the free market. The freer the market,
the freer the people.
Taxation is immoral, however, it is essential to sustaining a safe nation. Libertas Flamma supports
the idea of a fair tax, wherein individuals would pay tax on consumption rather than income. This
plan would eliminate the IRS, and shrink the overall size of the federal government. We realize the
Fair Tax is a long shot idea, and respect other opinions that seek to reform the tax code, and lower
taxes for all hardworking Americans.
Finally, we believe in tolerance. To create a civil, peaceful world it is up to every citizen to respect
the ideas and beliefs of others. Although we may not agree with a person's choices, we have a
responsibility to be respectful and tolerant. Race, religion, sexual orientation, and the likes are not
basis for discrimination. Libertas Flamma believes that "all men (and women) are created" equal
and we intend to promote this simple but visionary idea.
